prolific electronic music producers ever, using at least 30 different names
on too many record labels to count. Orlando chooses to innovate and
experiment with new sounds and beats everytime he steps in the studio. When
Orlando Voorn came to Submerge Recordings everybody was excited to see what
he did next, and via his own label Ignitor, he produced a flood of great and
innovative tracks. This compilation represents some of the finest musical
moments in the Ignitor catalogue as well as some tracks made for
Electrofunk.

"Szymon 'Stealpot' Folwarczny released his debut album back in 2005. By that time, Mass Mess.Age caught everyone by surprise. An unknown young artist, hailing from Katowice, had just released one of the freshest albums of the year. By then the album gathered several good reviews and made it to countries such as Germany, England or Japan.

This year young Szymon is back with the always difficult second album. After the debut Mass Mess.Age expectations were high for his next chapter. Indian Salon has just arrived and not only it stands up to our expectations, it is a big step forth towards its predecessor.

For this release Szymon brought together, again, Kasandra Adebowale, on vocals, and Gosia Warszawska, on flute, two artists that collaborated with him on his debut album. Anna Ruttar, on vocals, Junko Nashimura, from the French/Japanese band Mondialito, Damir Radic, Piotr Czyja, Jaszczur and many others joined this second adventure. All together, they brought a brand new sound to Stealpot.

The music now is full of life, rhythm and energy. There's space for electronic pop, nu-jazz and downtempo. The instruments sound so real. Well, they're real now. Percussion, bass, double-bass, hammond organ, rhodes, piano, guitar, a string quartet with two violins, a viola and a cello, and trumpet. All these take part on."

"Zenzile are essentially a rock outfit playing dub, who seem as equally influenced by the production styles of a group such as Massive Attack, as they are by any of the authentic Jamaican reggae masters. There is a purveying darkness which runs through this recording which gives it it’s strength. The hallmarks of traditional dub instrumentation are here – melodica, clav, and of course the ever present bassline. However, the introduction of strings on the track “Eolian Blues”, coupled with the accordion, give it a very Parisian vibe, and we also find flutes, distorted guitars (referencing On-U-Sound productions) and other sounds appearing throughout that give Zenzile an identity of their own. Of the vocal tracks included on the album, only “War Still A Run” really hits the mark, the instrumental numbers are the real stars, as some of the lyrics elsewhere are slightly irritating. There are many, many other dub releases the novice (and also the fanatic) should hear before this one, but overall, not a bad album by this French five piece band."
